Valve Stem and TPMS

The BMW M2 is fitted with alloy valve stems paired with the factory tire-pressure monitoring sensors. These factory alloy valve stems can be reused directly with a new set of wheels. Where a vehicle is fitted with rubber valve stems instead, an alloy valve stem must be added when the wheels are changed.

Wheel Load Requirement

The factory wheels carry no marked load rating. Using the conventional load factor of 1.2 and the recorded maximum permissible gross weight of 2,155kg:

2,155 ÷ 4 × 1.2 = 646.5kg

MAKSTTON therefore recommends a minimum rated load of at least 646.5kg per wheel for this application.

Measured Wheel-to-Fender Clearance

Baseline: factory 19-inch front / 20-inch rear package at factory suspension height, measured from the outer tire edge to the fender.

Measurement Front Left Front Right Rear Left Rear Right
Fender lip to wheel rim ≈20mm ≈20mm ≈17mm ≈16mm
Fender lip to tire sidewall ≈16mm ≈15mm ≈14mm ≈15mm
Suspension to fender ≈50mm ≈48mm ≈40mm ≈40mm
Fender lip thickness ≈12mm ≈5mm

Use this guide as a baseline, not the final answer. Measurements from your own vehicle are always more valuable. Read our Flush Fitment Guide, measure your car, and calculate the fitment that matches the stance you want.

MAKSTTON Custom Fitment Recommendation

Based on the factory suspension height.

5mm Wheel-Rim Inset from the Fender

Position Wheel Size Offset Tire
Front 19×9.5J ET5 275/35ZR19
Rear 20×10.5J ET7 285/30ZR20

10mm Wheel-Rim Inset from the Fender

Position Wheel Size Offset Tire
Front 19×9.5J ET10 275/35ZR19
Rear 20×10.5J ET12 285/30ZR20

Fender clearance may vary slightly between vehicles due to production tolerances. Use these figures as a reference only.

Recommended MAKSTTON FG Wheel Designs

These made-to-order forged wheels can be produced in the recommended 19- and 20-inch specifications, 5×112 PCD, 66.5mm center bore and required load rating. Available FG styles for this guide include MR7, MR8, MR5, BO05, RE05L, RE03, AV5 and ZO ST5.

Real-World BMW M2 Fitment Case

Case 01 — MAKSTTON FG RE05

Item Front Rear
Wheel Model MAKSTTON FG RE05
Wheel 19×9.5J ET10 20×10.5J ET12
Tire 275/35ZR19 285/30ZR20
Center Bore 66.45mm
Rated Load 800kg per wheel

Clearance recorded after installation:

Measurement Front Left Front Right Rear Left Rear Right
Fender lip to wheel rim ≈7mm ≈8mm ≈3mm ≈7mm
Fender lip to tire sidewall ≈5mm ≈6mm ≈2mm ≈7mm

This setup follows the recommended specifications exactly. The wheel and tire sit close to flush with the fender, giving a stronger sense of speed and power that suits the M2's two-door coupe body. The owner also chose a deep-concave blank for a more pronounced spoke profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the BMW M2 bolt pattern and center bore?

The bolt pattern is 5×112. The published center-bore specification is 66.6mm, while MAKSTTON machines its custom wheels to 66.5mm for this application. The inspected vehicle recorded wheel center-bore readings of 66.630mm and 66.624mm, with hub diameters of 66.48mm and 66.49mm.

What wheel fitment does MAKSTTON recommend for the BMW M2?

MAKSTTON recommends a staggered setup of 19×9.5J ET10 at the front and 20×10.5J ET12 at the rear, retaining the factory 275/35ZR19 front and 285/30ZR20 rear tires. See the final recommendation table for the exact specifications.

What minimum wheel load rating should be specified?

Based on the recorded maximum permissible gross weight of 2,155kg and a load factor of 1.2, MAKSTTON uses at least 646.5kg per wheel as the reference for a custom wheel on this vehicle. The FG RE05 used in the documented installation is rated at 800kg per wheel.

Will a wider wheel rub on the BMW M2?

BMW M models can contact the fender lip after a wheel change, and the inside of the wheel can contact the liner at full steering lock. MAKSTTON therefore recommends a conservative offset that keeps adequate fender clearance, and the final brake and body clearance should always be verified on the actual vehicle.

Can the factory wheel bolts and valve stems be reused?

The BMW M2 uses M14×1.25 wheel bolts with a 17mm hex and a 28mm thread length, and the factory alloy valve stems can be reused with the tire-pressure monitoring sensors. Confirm that the new wheel's seat type and bolt engagement match the hardware being used.
